India is known for its vast heritage, historic places and rich culture.  The land of kings and kingdoms has many stories of valor and even cruelty of kings, such incidents sometimes lead to haunting of places by the sufferers. We bring to you 10 such haunted places of India along with the stories associated with it:

1.  Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Bhangarh Fort is named as one of the scariest haunted places in India. This fort is said to have been haunted by a magician, who fell in love with the princess. But he could not get the princess and instead was killed by her, while dying he casted a dark spell on the palace which caused its doom.

This place is a tourist attraction but only during the day, after sunset entire place is deserted. There are even warning signs put up all over by the government to warn about roaming at the palace after sunset.

 

2.  Agrasen Ki Baoli, Delhi

You must have last seen this place in movie PK, where Aamir Khan was seated on the big staircase. This place is known to be famous for killing people by throwing them in a well filled with black water. Again this place is also to be visited during day time only as night time spirits time

 

3.  Kuldhara, Rajasthan

Kuldhara is known as the deserted village of Rajasthan. It is believed that in 1800s all the people residing in the village were disappeared overnight and till date nobody got a clue where have they gone. The village is cursed by the vanished villagers who had lived there for around 7 centuries.

Tales around this mystery include that a Minister of state Salim Singh had once visited the village and he fell in love with daughter of Chieftain and wanted to marry her. He even threatened to levy double taxes if he was not allowed to marry her. In order to prevent integrity of their village’s daughter the villagers vanished overnight and cursed the village that anybody who will reside here will be cursed.

 

4.  Bengal Swamps, Aleya Ghost Lights-West Bengal

Aleya Ghost Lights also known as marsh lights are unexplainable lights in the swamps of West Bengal. These lights are mostly observed by fishermen. It is believed that who follow these lights may get drowned. Many fishermen have died in these swamps and its said that these lights are ghosts of them, they sometimes mislead the fishermen and even save them from dangers.

 

5.  Mukesh Mills, Mumbai

A famous location for shooting of horror movies, Mukesh Mills has witnessed many paranormal activities. It is shut since 1980s after a fire broke in it.

 

 

6.  National Library, Kolkata

During its renovation 12 workers died during an accident, since then stories of library being haunted are heard. Unnatural death of a kid while searching for books are also doing rounds. Even security guards fear to take night shifts at this library.

 

 

 

7.  Three Kings Church, Kolkata

Three Kings Church got its name from three kings, who had fought for the property of this church and eventually ended up killing each other. Since then this place is haunted by the three kings. Locals have experience many paranormal activities at this place and even GRIP team of Indian Paranormal Society.

 

 

8.  The Lambi Dehar Mines, Mussoorie

One of the most haunted places in the country, half a million workers died in these mines coughing blood due to improper mining conditions. Since then mines are shut. It is believed by locals that place is haunted by a witch who walks down the hill and kills many people. Rapid occurrences of accidents and unusual deaths have also made this place rank amongst the spookiest places in the country.

 

 

9.  The Mansion Residency Road, Pune

The sight of dilapidated house is itself so scary that venturing into the house is something you will dread. Locals say that there are Errie sounds, manic laughter and blood-curdling screams are often heard late at night and easily makes it one of the most haunted places in India.

 

 

10.  Khairatabad Science College, Hyderabad

A Tarapuri Buliding, just off the Khairatabad flyover which used to be a science college, fell to ruin and was abandoned, but the dead bodies in the biology labs were not disposed of properly. People who pass by at night have often sighted walking skeletons, sparks and disturbing noises. A guard was stationed there by the Government but he died mysteriously, adding to the scariness of the place. Locals avoid this place and believe it to be one of the most haunted in the country.
